Parkland Health Center Introduces New Robotic-Assisted Surgical System
Parkland Health Center is proud to introduce a new robotic-assisted surgical system, an advancement in surgical technology that enhances precision, control, and patient outcomes. This state-of-the-art robotic-assisted system is designed for minimally invasive procedures.
“This technology elevates the level of care we can provide to our community,” Annette Schnabel, president, says. “We’re thrilled to offer patients the benefits of robotic surgery right here at Parkland.”
At Parkland, the robotics systems will be used for laparoscopic and general surgeries such as hernia repairs and bowel procedures. Additionally, it will be used for gynecological surgeries, including hysterectomies and fibroid removal, offering patients an easier recovery, smaller scars, and shorter hospital stays.
Using high-definition 3D visualization and robotic arms with a greater range of motion than the human hand, surgeons can perform complex procedures with unmatched accuracy. The benefits of robotic surgery include smaller incisions, reduced blood loss, less trauma to surrounding tissues, and significantly shorter recovery times.
"We're excited to bring robotic surgery to Parkland. This system gives us greater precision with small incisions and expedited recovery for our patients,” Rafael Figueroa-Dugarte, MD, a BJC Medical Group surgeon at Parkland Health Center says. “Most importantly, it means people in our community can receive advanced surgical care close to home with state-of-the-art technology."
